Well yesterday, Saturday 11 Aug, (on the recommendation of meteorologist for a day : Bill S.) I headed out to Pocono Raceway with Tom Raddin and Felix Hernandez. Our three Cobras headed out into the cloudy mist with full confidence that our trip would be dry from start to finish. The first rain hit us as soon as we entered PA!
No problem, the rain just swooped over us. We arrived at the raceway at about 9:30am and met up with John McMahon, Cranky and Bill S.. Another downpour around 10:30am caused Cranky and McMahon to abort and return to the pit area. They finally got out about an hour later but the track was still a bit wet. Cranky had a good round but McMahon, having very slick slicks, had to come in.
This is a shot of Cranky and John McMahon. Also a shot of Cranky's dash
plaque.
McMahon's Mustang and his attempts to do a wheelie with the bike.
Bill S. (our meteorologist) in the staging area.
This is in full race
dress. Not ready for the track yet but hoping to make the October date.
This was one of the most interesting cars I've seen. It is a full 2/3
scale of a Porsche 928. It is
called a Diasio and has a Kawasaki 750 chain
drive and a quick change rear. The owner said he
gets it up to about 130 and there is very little on the track that he cannot
pull away from.
Only 32,500k complete.
This was another interesting car. An original 53 Vette.
Well we took off around 1pm and it started to pour as we approached Route 80 (about three miles from the track). Wasn't bad riding home, you were moving all the way so you really did not get wet. Miserable driving conditions, especially for me cause I have no wipers. Thank you RainX.
